As seen on the Flickr blog :
Breaking with the grand Flickr tradition of just whipping the tablecloth out from underneath you, we thought it might be more polite to let you know that there are some changes coming, what that means for you and why we think it’s better.
Changing things on a very popular website that we’ve all learned to love is tricky business, especially the layout. The redesign needs to stay coherent with how people use the site, and should not break any habit that we’ve grown into as users. As people have a tendency to do irrational things, there’s really no telling how they use (and misuse) a website. So how do you manage not to break habits you don’t know about?
I, for one, am eagerly awaiting the redesign 🙂
