GMail Notifier for MacOS X : Memory sink

Pursuing the worthy goal of decreasing the number of opened windows on my computer, I decided to try the GMail notifier for Mac OS X. Unfortunately, it uses so much memory it’s not funny :
TWELVE MEGABYTES for something that warns you when you have new mail ??? It’s only two megabytes less than iTunes, which (I think) does a little more. And it’s more than 3 MB more than Acquisition or iCal ! (iCal is the clear winner here, 8 MB is not too bad).
With such high memory requirements, it’s easier to keep a tab opened in Safari.
