What is wrong with this picture?

Nothing fancy, right? Just the standard mac way of installing software, tried-n-true drag-n-drop this folder here. They even provide you with a nice alias to your “Applications” folder… Wait, no they’re not. The folder on the right is not an actual folder. It’s part of the folder background. You actually have to drop the EndNote folder somewhere else, in another window or on a sidebar shortcut.
Pretty impressive – this design is, in effect, actively going out of its way to fool the user. It would have been better to just show the folder and the explanatory text.
